…busy! I have been too caught up with life to post regularly. Here is a summary attempt, a post about what life is like nowadays.

…full of travel. I have been heading down to LA quite a bit, most often for wedding planning. The most recent trip was full of crafting, as my mom and I made all sorts of things for the wedding (surprises, mostly!). It was really fun to work on handmade goodies over tons of good food and mojitos!

…full of work. I have really upped my time at the MIND Institute. I am managing a new research project, but also continuing with my other responsibilities, including lots of really fun clinical work. These other responsibilities used to fill all of my time there (technically, 20 hours per week), and this new project is supposed to do the same…and since nothing has diminished, I am easily there full-time. It’s been hectic, but often very rewarding.

…focused on my dissertation! I try really, really hard to carve out time to work on my dissertation. It has been a challenge with this new work schedule, but I have managed to do so recently. I had set a goal to have all of my coding down by the end of the summer, and I think it will happen! I have a fantastic coder, also a good friend, and she is confident that we will get it all done!

…exciting. I am SO EXCITED about the upcoming wedding and all of my upcoming travel. In three weeks, Mandi and I head to London for the Olympics. In August, we have a mini-trip to Tahoe for our friends Caitlin and Evan’s wedding, and in September we’re heading to Cabo for my bachelorette party. And then post-wedding, of course, is the honeymoon in Bora Bora!

…full of wedding planning!! Wedding planning dominates a lot of my free time right now, and I love it. I am constantly working to check things off my to-do list, like finalizing the menu, choosing the guys’ outfits, picking out my garter. So much fun!!

…crafty. My scrapbooking activity ebbs and flows, depending on my level of busyness, travel, whether or not we’re having visitors (since I dominate the dining room table with supplies when I work), etc. Although I am currently scrapbooking less often, I am always thinking about it and looking forwward to having the time to sit down and work out my next page.

…fun! It seems that Nik and I are always laughing about something and having a good time. Jo entertains us immensely!

…fast! I am still running and LOVING it. Summer in Davis is so hot, and it’s a challenge to run outside in the heat. It’s comfortable to run outside in the morning or after 8 pm, but my favorite time to run is 4-6 pm, long after lunch but before dinner. I have discovered that the gym at school is really nice (and apparently, I get a membership paid for me!), and I can choose between using a treadmill (where I can watch TV on my personal screen) or the indoor, upstairs track (where I can oversee the basketball games below). Both options work out fabulously, and I’ve incorporated frequent gym trips into my routine quite easily.

…good. Although things have been really busy, life really is great right now. In the last year or so of my Ph.D. program, I am still learning new things, solidfying my clinical skills, and working hard toward certifications and licensures that I will use in the future. I am lucky to be able to travel and have so much fun during these years, and it seems that I always have something really exciting to look forward to.
